For more than 36 years, our Paris based MPC and The Mill studios, formerly united under the same entity Mikros Image, have collaborated on post-producing around 40 music videos for the French singer Mylène Farmer. To date, we have more than 40 video projects in live and non-live format. It is always a pleasure for the teams to welcome these projects and to be able to accompany the director François Hanss in these creative adventures.
This year, the vocalist behind Libertine and Désenchantée lent her voice to the French soundtrack for the movie Dungeons and Dragons: Honor among Thieves. This great news was announced in person by actors Chris Pine and Michelle Rodriguez on the networks of Paramount Pictures :
The Mill Paris artists crafted the visual effects for the music video directed by François Hanss and produced by Stuffed Monkey, while the MPC Paris & Liege post-production teams handled the editing and color grading, then integrated the Paramount Pictures footage into the artists’ video.
L’Emprise is the 12ᵉ studio album by French singer Mylène Farmer, released on November 25, 2022 by Stuffed Monkey. The MPC Paris teams were able to collaborate on two video clips from this album: Rallumer les étoiles and L’emprise.
“After discussing with the director and the editor of the video, we had to integrate the eyes of dragons in the background, the singer in the pupil of the dragon or replace his eye. We started with a classic image of a dragon’s eye that we validated beforehand with the production team and the director. The integrations were done on After Effect and the eyes were cleaned with Flame. The production was fast thanks to a very good understanding with the production team and of course our colleagues from MPC Paris. Although the clip is interspersed with many scenes from the film, it remains faithful to the artistic universe of Mylène Farmer. In addition to the work done on the video clip for the images concerning Mylène Farmer, MPC’s international studios in London, Montreal and Bangalore produced more than 600 VFX shots for the film for which the artist illustrates the soundtrack.
The film Dungeons and Dragons: Honor among Thieves is truly a great collaboration between Technicolor Creative Studios.
